Chapter Three

Please reread pages 14-16 before responding to this.

Sam's father grew very upset when he found Sam wearing his Civil War jacket.  What do you think caused him to be so agitated?  Why do you think he told Grandpa that the world after the War "is better... for a man with vision"?

  1. I think Sam's dad was so angry because those were memories he didn't want to bring back up. I think when he said "War is better... for a man with vision so that you can see when you've been deceived.

  2. I think you misread what I wrote, Tyler. He said that the world after the war is better for a man with vision.

  3. I don't think he liked seeing blood and death.
I think he was mad about Sam wearing the jacket because he liked serving his country, but again, he didn't like seeing violence.

  6. I think Grandpa didn't want him in the Civil War jacket because maybe Grandpa thought the jacket was fragile and he didn't want it to rip. I think that a war is better for a man with vision because all you see isn't death, bullets, and blood.
