Chapter Twelve

The word "cheroot" appears twice in this chapter.  Please find it in context, reread those parts, and then explain what you think the word means, along with explaining why you think that.

  1. I think "cheroot" means A type of cigarette or cigar. The book says he sucked the smoke out and smushed it under his foot

  2. I think a cheroot is a cigarette because they said that Pa strode over cheroot in one hand, and they said Pa puffed the last of the smoke out of his cheroot and ground it in the grass.

  3. I think cheroot is a cigarette also known as a cigar because it said in the book,"He smiled,taking long puffs."It also said that Pa sucked in the last smoke from his cheroot and ground it on the grass.
