On page 159, in his letter to Sam, Grandpa said, "And much as I want you here, home with Grandma and me, we can't have your new life in a new land blighted because of a plague of locusts."
What do you think "blighted" means? Why do you think that?
I think "blighted" means contaminated or diseased. The locusts could have carried diseases so therefore it is contaminated by locusts.
ReplyDeleteMaybe blighted means diseased because I remember that my brother told me that grasshoppers have a certain disease in them so that's why I think it means diseased.
ReplyDeleteI think "blighted meas forgotten because they were thinking of forgetting their new life.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I forgot a pair of quotation marks.
ReplyDeleteI think that "blighted" means diseased or forgotten because of the grasshoppers now has diseases in them.
